Xenorate Update 5/14/2012

We have applied a total of 5 treatment at a 1 oz. rate/ Acre on our driving range tee starting March 26th.  We have seen great results but we have found that the product is definately temperature dependent.  We saw good results early in the treatments when the weather was warm with daily temperature in the lower 80's.  When the temperature dropped in early April the process began to slow down because we feel the plant was not metabolizing the product efficiently.  We have seen increase activity the last few weeks once the temperatures increased again.  I believe that the ideal time to apply this product is when soil tempartures reach 60-65 degrees consistantly which for us would be sometime around May 1st in Indiana.  I think that if you can apply around this time you will only need 2 to 3 applications to eradicate the poa annua.  We feel we have eradicated approximetely 70% of the poa annua from our driving range tee from our treatments this spring.  We will be applying one more application to our driving range tee and start doing some spot treatments in fairways and on tees.  We will begin those treatments tomorrow.

Xonerate Day 30

We continue to monitor the progress of Xonerate on our poa annua.  We are performing trials on this new product, spraying every 7 days at a 1 ounce rate.  We are currently on our 4th application with nothing tank mixed with the product.  These picture were taken today on day 30 of the trial.  We are finally seeing some great results with the poa annua weakening and the bentgrass growing over the poa.

Xonerate testing on Driving Range Tee

We have continued testing of a new product getting ready to be released by Arysta Life Science called Xonerate.  We tested the product last Spring with great results and have continued testing this Spring.  We have expanded our testing from not only our driving range tees but several tees throughout the course that have moderate levels of Poa Annua infestation. We our spraying every 7 days and getting ready to make our 3rd application today.  The pictures below are taken after 19 days since the first treatment.

Amicarbazone Testimonial

Last week, Cory Troyer, golf course superintendent from Otter Creek Golf course, and myself had the wonderful opportunity of giving an testimonial from the amicarbazone trials that we have been performing on our golf courses. Amicarbazone is a new active ingredient that removes poa annua from bentgrass and other varieties. The product performed very well on our driving range tee with no damage to our bentgrass. We hope to do more research this Spring on our #1 tee. This product is supposed to hit the market this Spring.

Amicarbazone Treatment Update

We are continuing to see great results from the Amicarbazone trials that we are performing on our driving range tee.  Amicarbazone is a product from Arysta Life Science that is being used to eradicate our poa annua population from our driving range tee.  We started treatments in April of this year at a rate of 3oz/acre every 18-21 days depending on the weather.  We have just completed applying our last treatment for the summer and hope to continue trials in the Fall.  The product has been extremely safe so far by not damaging our bentgrass but slowly killing off our poa population.  Here are some great pictures of the results we are having so far.

Amicarbazone Treatments @ Sagamore

We are researching a new product from Arysta Life Science called Amicarbazone.  This product eliminates poa annua from bentgrass playing surfaces without injury to the bentrgrass.  We are currently testing this product on our driving range tee which is were most of the poa at Sagamore is concentrated.  We are excited in using a product like this because if we can eliminate poa annua from the driving range tee we will be able to keep the rest of the golf course poa free.  This new product is applied at 3 oz/acre every 21 days.   We are seeing some great results after just one application.  The product was applied on May 19th and here are the results:
