2016 Bunker Renovation Recap

Well today officially marks the first day of Winter. I'm assuming I'm not the only one who feels as though Winter has been here for a while, not just one day. The unseasonably warm Autumn set a record number of rounds played for the month of November and even a few brave (or crazy) golfers snuck in a few rounds early in December before the course closed for the season. We took advantage of the weather as well and were able to move forward with Phase 3 of the Bunker Renovations. Below recaps the 2016 Bunker Renovations and where we stand heading into 2017.

The number of bunkers that were completed on the course in 2016. Which includes the following holes-- 3,4,6,7,8,11,13,16,17,18.

The number of bunkers left to finish #16. The approach bunker just needs sand. The Back Right (golfers right) bunker needs a few yards of Capillary Concrete along with sand and we will be good to go.

The picture below illustrates the green side bunkers being renovated this Fall on #16

The number of bunkers we began to excavate this Fall. We have removed the sand from the green side bunker on 15, as well as the green sides on 14. The removal of sand should give us a great jump start to the Spring. Upon completion of 14, 15, & 16, All of the green side bunkers will be completed on the course, except for #2. My staff along with the assistance of Landscapes Unlimited and their design team will be working on developing a plan for this bunker in the off season. The 2017 Bunker Renovation plan is in the process of being finalized and will update accordingly.

The video below illustrates just exactly how quick water pushes through the Capillary Concrete. The final step before we add sand to the bunkers is to ensure the CC was installed correctly and has proper flow leaving the bunker.  I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
